Youth ministry at UCC is not about chaperoning kids or just trying to get them to sit down and be quiet! It IS about getting involved in the lives of young people, encouraging them, praying for them, and watching God grow them into men and women who are passionate about Him.
We have a very relationally-oriented youth ministry here at UCC. Our programs and activities are intentionally designed to foster relationships between students and staff, since much spiritual growth is "caught," not "taught."
It is a great responsibility and a great privilege to be a role model and mentor to teenagers, but we certainly don't want to leave you flailing on your own in the ministry. We work in teams of 2-3 leaders per small group, encourage mutual accountability, and provide regular training for all leaders.
As you consider getting involved in junior high or high school ministry, please read through the information packet first, which gives an overview of the ministry and details the process for getting involved. Next, you'll want to fill out an application and set up an appointment for an interview. A pastoral reference and an employer reference must also be submitted. Most importantly, we encourage you to be in prayer about your involvement throughout the process.
If you have any questions throughout the process, feel free to contact us!
