KidZone

Welcome to Children's Ministries at University Covenant Church! We are committed to loving and teaching children to experience and follow Jesus in ways that speak to a child's heart, mind, and soul. We strive to make each child's experience at UCC child-centered, safe, age-appropriate, creative and fun!

Kidzone has two areas: Nursery/Preschool and K-6th Grade.

Nursery/Preschool

Nursery

(Available during 9:30 am and 11:00 am services)

Our Nursery classes are filled with loving arms, special blankies, colorful toys, Saltines, diaper changes, Cheerios, rocking chairs, bottles, lots of giggles and just a few tears!  We share Jesus' love with our youngest children using well trained and caring volunteers.  We welcome infants 2 months through 24 months.

Preschool

(Available during 9:30 am and 11:00 am services)

9:30 am and 11:00 am: Our trained and caring teachers share Jesus' love with preschoolers through inside and outside play and age appropriate teaching times.  Our preschool circle time includes singing, prayer, an offering, a scripture verse, and a Bible story.  The 9:30 and 11:00 classes offer different curriculums for those families who stay for two hours of worship and/or Adult Sunday School.  Our preschool offering goes to support a missionary family originally from UCC who have preschool aged children.  We welcome all preschool children, ages 2 years through 5 years.

All nursery and pre-school adult volunteers go through an application process that includes an application, reference checks, fingerprinting and interviews.  Nursery and preschool volunteers participate in various types of training and in-services.  We believe each volunteer adds their own special unique style and gifts in our ministry to children.

Rethinking How We Serve Families and Partner with Parents

Most of a child's spiritual development happens not at church, but at home. As a result, the mission of KidZone is to partner with parents to teach kids the Scriptures and point them toward a life-giving, life-changing relationship with Jesus.

Our Curriculum

  • Based on Luke 2:52 (And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men)
  • Built around Three Basic Truths:

    • Wisdom: I need to make the wise choice.
    • Faith: I can trust God no matter what.
    • Friendship: I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

  • The Three Basic Truths are amplified through 36 monthly virtues (such as kindness, generosity and faith) and 150 Bible stories. Every week there is a key TRUTH or bottom line that we will drive home. It's the ONE THING we want kids to understand and grab onto during their hour in the KidZone.

  • Plus, LITs (Leaders in Training) for those 6th graders who want to move beyond participant — a chance to learn and practice leadership!

  • So that you can help enhance your child’s spiritual life, we’ll provide you with tools and devotions that you can use to continue the week’s lesson… at home!

God-Time Cards:

God-Time Cards are designed for parents to continue the week’s KidZone lesson ... at home! If you are a Bible pro, or a new Christian, these take home lessons are a simple tool to equip parents on how to become spiritual leaders in the home. They cards have 4 days’ worth of devotion ideas for kids to use in their time with God, or that you can do together with your child. Kids will be able to find their weekly God-Time Card available for download on ucov.com as well as in hardcopy at each Sunday KidZone. We want to help all of our kids establish a lifelong habit of spending time with God!

Parent Cue Cards:

Parent Cue Cards are designed to keep parents in the know about what your kids are learning each week in the KidZone. Become familiar with the monthly theme, memory verse, bottom line, and the Bible story! It will all be showcased on your weekly Parent Cue take home card (which will also be emailed each week to the parents of K6 kids).

Monthly Parent Newsletter:

Every month a parent newsletter will be sent out to provide an overview of what is planned for the KidZone, the virtue and memory verse for the month, and the scriptures and Bible stories we will be covering. In addition, it will contain upcoming events, relevant announcements, and a Parenting Moment section, where you will receive instruction and challenge on how you can enhance your child’s spiritual life!
